The Guildford Wine Festival will take place at Guildford Cathedral on 12th and 13th May, with a session on the Friday evening from 7pm-11pm, an afternoon session of the Saturday from 12pm-4pm and a final session of the Saturday evening from 7pm-11pm.
It follows the success of the Farnham Wine Festival last month. Don’t take our word for it, here is one of the emails we received: “Just a quick note to say what a great evening we all had last night at the Farnham Maltings wine festival. All 17 of us loved it. We hope it becomes an annual event” (Kevin Rayner).
The festival will feature over 140 international wines from Majestic, Lay & Wheeler and Naked Wines, including champagnes and premium wines. In addition, there will be live music, entertainment, concessions, food, money off-wine vouchers, wine talks, wine experts and more.
Local wines and producers will also feature with their own special section to celebrate the strength and diversity of wine production in this area. These will include Albury Vineyard (nr Guildford), Blackdown Ridge (Haslemere), Greyfriars (Puttenham) and Jenkyn Place (Bentley).
At the event, a tasting measure of wine costs a minimum of one token, with some of the more expensive wines costing up to three tokens. Extra tokens will be available to purchase on the day. Entry to each festival is just £10 per session if booked in advance, with wine tokens also available at a reduced price when booked together. Group rates will also be available for parties and larger bookings.
The Guildford Wine Festival will be working with two local charities at the event in May. The two charities will be Oakleaf and Shooting Star Chase. A blind wine tasting will support Oakleaf and Shooting Star Chase will run a raffle, with the proceeds of each going directly to the charities. In addition, VantagePoint Events will also donate money from every ticket sold.
